About Wunderkind

A performance marketing platform built for a privacy-first world

Established in 2010, Wunderkind is a leader and pioneer in performance marketing solutions. It sets itself apart by guaranteeing revenue without relying on cookies or third-party data, a crucial advantage in today’s privacy-conscious environment. The company helps brands establish and grow customer relationships by delivering 1:1 marketing messages at scale across channels, driving real sales outcomes for ecommerce sites. It has built an impressive portfolio of over 700 brands, including Clarks, AAA, and Diane von Furstenberg.

The challenge

Signal loss was making prospects harder to see and reach

In a digital advertising landscape shaped by signal loss and increasing privacy restrictions, targeting the right audience has become significantly more complex. These shifts have made accurate cross-platform attribution more difficult, while also driving up costs and limiting performance visibility.

For Wunderkind, this challenge was compounded by a target audience still heavily dependent on third-party data, making it harder to reach, engage, and measure the accounts that mattered most.

The goals

Creating a measurable path from awareness to revenue

Wunderkind partnered with 2X* to address a growing disconnect between its market differentiation and its ability to consistently engage and convert priority accounts.

The focus was to establish a more effective marketing strategy for brand awareness, strengthen its brand positioning and value proposition, and create a more measurable path from engagement to pipeline through a targeted account-based marketing (ABM) strategy.

Through this partnership, Wunderkind aimed to:

  • Strengthen brand awareness and affinity
  • Engage new prospects across the entire buying committee
  • Drive pipeline development across the target account list (TAL)
  • Amplify awareness of Wunderkind’s performance marketing solutions
  • Foster collaboration between sales and marketing
  • Secure high-value offer (HVO) registrations for an eCommerce Marketing Strategy Workshop (a tailored 60-minute session led by a Wunderkind Strategy Consultant)

The strategy

A five-part ABM strategy that brought every signal together

To achieve these objectives, 2X developed an ABM acquisition strategy built on clear market positioning, coordinated engagement, and unified marketing data.

The strategy was built on five key pillars:

  1. Target: Define and segment accounts in Wunderkind’s performance marketing retail eCommerce space, focusing on a target account list (TAL) reflective of the top 20 current accounts
  2. Differentiate: Establish a clear brand positioning and value proposition, supported by a messaging strategy designed to engage priority accounts
  3. Reach and engage: Activate multi-channel engagement across paid media, digital experiences, and sales outreach to nurture accounts throughout the buying cycle
  4. Report: Integrate data to deliver account-level visibility, enabling measurement across the lifecycle and identification of buying signals
  5. Refine and expand: Continuously optimize the 1:Few ABM program, target account list (TAL), and messaging while identifying opportunities to scale

This approach defined how Wunderkind would identify, engage, and convert high-value accounts within a complex and evolving buying environment.

Two elements proved critical in translating this strategy into measurable impact: a distinct approach to positioning and creative execution, and a unified marketing data framework that enabled precise, account-level visibility. These components are outlined below.

Brand positioning, messaging, and creative concepting

To break through in a saturated, privacy-constrained market, 2X developed a cohesive marketing strategy for brand awareness by translating Wunderkind’s positioning into focused messaging and a creative concept to engage senior decision-makers.

At its core, Wunderkind’s differentiation centered on delivering scalable, predictable revenue through first-party data, without reliance on third-party signals.

This foundation informed persona-driven messaging tailored to two key audiences: the “Conversion Champion,” focused on performance and efficiency, and the “Revenue Regulator,” focused on accountability and predictability.

To activate this strategy, the campaign introduced a bold creative concept built on direct, contrarian statements such as “You won’t” and “You can’t,” designed to challenge assumptions and capture attention in a crowded market.

Each statement reframed common marketing limitations and positioned Wunderkind as the solution, aligning persona relevance with a distinct and cohesive creative narrative.

Unified account intelligence and engagement analytics

Central to the campaign’s success was the ability to track multi-persona engagement across channels and measure account readiness. To do that, 2X established a unified marketing data framework that consolidated data from media (display ads, LinkedIn, content syndication), marketing (email, web, forms), sales outreach, and intent signals into a single account-level view.

The team developed a data architecture with normalization rules to unify sources, categorize activities, and enable filtering and segmentation. A visualization layer translated this data into actionable insights by account stage (Forrester Waterfall model), activity type, industry, and region.

This framework enabled the identification of sales-ready accounts, deeper measurement of engagement, and clearer visibility into pipeline impact.

A structured review process further supported ongoing analysis of interactions and responders, allowing for continuous refinement of targeting, messaging, creative, and sales outreach.

The results

The right accounts moved from attention to opportunity

By combining a differentiated messaging and creative approach with integrated, account-level data visibility, the Wunderkind campaign drove measurable engagement and pipeline impact across its target accounts.

This approach enabled more precise targeting, deeper insight into account behavior, and stronger alignment between marketing and sales throughout the buyer journey.

As a result, in just four months:

  • 13% of the accounts in the program opened an opportunity (pipeline influence)
  • 2% of the accounts converted to closed/won
  • 58% of the accounts engaged with five or more campaign assets
  • 93% of the accounts were reached via ad impressions, email marketing communications, or 1:1 sales outreach
